Some Fresh Ideas

These are some of the really nifty ideas I've gotten off of 2000dollarwedding.com recently. These are wedding cake stands made out of vintage plats attached to vintage glasses or vases. They're quite nifty, cheap, eco-friendly, and they would allow for a really cool set of different cakes of all varieties, which is so appealing it makes me drool. A bit. :)

Also, this idea for a practical ring (and look, it has a ruby in it) is a excellent one. I agree, I may sometimes feel a little strange wearing a ring that is so small, but I never really wanted anything too big, or inconvenient, and these are simply clasically beauitful. I think I would also be interested in something simple yet antique, but more on that later.

Another really nifty idea someone offered was to have a roulette wheel with three or four different charities names on it, where:
  • We had a roulette table where people "gambled" on charities. We picked 3 that were close to us and each will get something based of "votes" they got. This was probably the BIGGEST hit of the night. The table was literally packed with people all night and some guests ended up writing down their names and pitching in checks and cash even if they didn't play (which we totally had NOT planned on and found really touching!!) We rented the table from a local company for pretty cheap and did hire a dealer, but if you used an acquaintance and made your own table it could probably be even cheaper. No picture of that just yet, but it was so much fun that I had to share the idea :)

One last thing - sashes for the wedding. Belts Breaking Bondage is an awesome group on campus that works to raise awareness over child sex slaves in America. Going off that theme, an interesting idea would be to use these homemade sashes in an awareness sort of way. Same with some things from Honduras and Oaxaca for centerpieces or jewelry.
